Our vision, values and the story of a much-loved volunteer-led centre serving Swinnow since 1984.
We are a welcoming, volunteer-led community centre on Swinnow Lane in West Leeds. We bring people together across ages and backgrounds, making space for friendship, fun, learning, support and local action.

We want Swinnow to be a place where people feel connected, supported and able to shape a hopeful future together. The centre exists to offer a safe, welcoming space where everyone can belong, contribute and flourish.

Our story
Swinnow Community Centre first opened in 1984 and has played an important part in local life ever since. Over the years, people have gathered here for everything from bingo and fun days to advice sessions, performances and community celebrations.
In early 2024, the centre faced an uncertain future. Local people responded. Swinnow Community Centre CIC was incorporated on 27 April 2024, and a team of directors and volunteers worked together to relaunch the centre.
That community spirit still drives us. The building is a place, but the centre is its people: everyone who joins an activity, lends a hand, shares an idea or makes someone else feel welcome.
Help secure our future
Small monthly gifts keep Swinnow thriving.
Community ownership will protect the centre for the long term, but it also brings around £1,500 in extra costs every month. Gifts of £5, £10 or £20 make a real difference.
